No matter how positive you try and live your life. No matter how much personal growth you have attained…you will be tried…and the person that you strive to be will be tested not to revert to the person you may have been.
I write daily. Some of my writings are charged socio-political commentary, but just as often I write warped perspectives that attempt to carry a positive and inspirational component to helping others. I am beyond blessed and never let a day go by without affirming that fact. My life is far from perfect, yet in my own way the unarticulated optimism that I feel drives me to always try and keep things in perspective, especially related to my blessings.
Yet, I learned a lesson recently in that we all need reminders in helping to stay focused and most importantly on the path of positivity. The Internet is full of memes and quotes. Some cruel, some humorous, and some attempting to be positive and inspirational. People and situations will test our fortitude in trying to live positive, drama free lives.
Life is a journey and beside the certainty of death and taxes, you can count on uncertainty. Things happen… people happen… and no matter the path, growth or journey you are immersed, they will challenge the principles of patience and positivity. I am here to remind you, just as I was randomly reminded by a message from a friend, to never let others or situations (no matter how challenging) steer you from the path of being the man or woman you have fought so hard to become.
I use social media strictly for posting diaryofamadmind.com articles. Most of my friends are unaware I have any active accounts at all. So the randomness of receiving an inspirational quote from a good friend (who has never sent me any messages via social media before) was amazing in that it occurred literally during the exact moment I was re-enacting Al Pacino from the Godfather III (“Just when I was out…They brought me back in”).
I make light, but my reality is that I am no longer faced with as many moments and challenges that test the boundaries of my patience and positivity. I strive to be a good man… a better man, but the person I was… and can be does not come out through force of will versus instincts. I do not know why he sent that quote directly to me at that exact moment… My challenging situation had literally just occurred and no one was aware. Yet, the timeliness of those words provided the perfect reminder to not let anything curtail my better judgment and path.
Reminders to stay positive and on the path are everywhere in so many forms. Look at them…embrace them, because the challenges and obstacles will never disappear. So it is important to accept and acknowledge the reminders that life presents for ways to stay on a positive and focused path. Who knows, maybe this piece will provide that same benefit I recently received.
