BITTERNESS

The world is full of some really bitter people. Twitter is not the world but it gives a representative sampling of just how unhappy so many people really are. By my conservative alternative facts, 90% percent of the people on Twitter fall into the mad/sad/bitter category. 1% of Twitter is news. 5% of the people on Twitter attempt to inject some semblance of positivity and the remainder are just an unhealthy sampling of crazy.

I am not saying that Twitter is a fair representation of the ration of bitter and unhappy people walking around (or at least have internet access), but I am saying that it shows how mad and angry so many people are. Twitter is like a daily audition for who can be the Maddest Rapper hosted by the Mad Producer. It would be really funny (and sometimes it still is) if it wasn’t so hateful and angry.

The reality is that you can replace Twitter with so many other social media apps as well as the Internet in general. The 90% may be exaggerated, but there is no disputing that there are a ton of bitter people out there and most of them seem to have their finger on the figurative trigger of “Send” to share their Un-joy with the rest of the world… cause as the cliché goes “misery loves company” and they surely could not stand marinating in their own discord by their lonesome.

I see some bitter people first thing in the morning and aside from morning commuting traffic jams, which can challenge even the most positive of spirits, I wonder what these people had for breakfast. Wheaties is supposed to be the breakfast of champions… somehow I imagine these bitter people with a continental spread of despair and discontent washed down by glass and gravel.

How else can you explain the bitterness that far too many allow to engulf their daily existence. Life is difficult for many. However, the difficulties, no matter how elongated and arduous, cannot be compounded with anger and bitterness. That is tantamount to giving up, and nothing positive in life… not change… not prosperity can occur when we have given up.

I do not live in any utopian state of mind where everything is always good and positive (no matter how often I try to convince you and myself in writing). However, I know that bitterness is a waste of time, energy and resources that could and should be spent elsewhere looking for positive alternatives and answers to life’s questionable dilemmas.

So, once you are done with the Mad Rapper auditions, check the bitterness out of your life completely. Even if you think someone or life somehow owes you something, what you need to instead focus on is what you owe yourself. You owe yourself chance and opportunity, both of which can only occur with letting in possibilities that come with welcoming hope and positivity into your life.
